David Fordback to Lawyers

David Ford was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1979.

Since April 2008, David has been practising as Special Counsel with Carneys Lawyers.

David graduated Bachelor of Arts from Sydney University in 1975 and Bachelor of Laws from Sydney University in 1978. His law career began that same year as a Post Graduate Articled Clerk with McCaw Johnson, he became a partner there in 1985. McCaw Johnson merged with Abbott Tout in 1989 when David became the partner responsible for the General Litigation section at the Parramatta Office of Abbott Tout.

Right from the beginning of his legal career, David has always been involved in personal injury claims, including motor vehicle, industrial accidents and public liability claims. He's acted for both Plaintiffs and Defendants.

After merging with Abbott Tout in 1999, David was involved in NRMA CTP Defendant work and supervised a team of lawyers handling these claims. David was appointed to the panel of GIO Insurance from 1993 until 2001and handled their "Run Off" claims in relation to pre-Motor Accident Act claims and in later stages, other motor accident matters.

From 1994 until 2000, David was appointed to the panel of GIO General Limited and handled numerous public liability claims. He was responsible for managing in excess of 75% of that insurer's portfolio throughout NSW and the Australian Capital Territory.

David was in the first group of practitioners who became Personal Injury Accredited Specialists in May 1993. He is also a Current Member of the Law Society Specialist Accreditation Personal Injury Law Advisory Committee, having been appointed in 2006.

David was also appointed a CARS Assessor for the Motor Accidents Authority in April 2003, his appointment has been reconfirmed in 2009 for a further 3 year period.

Since leaving Abbott Tout in 2005, David has exclusively specialised in Plaintiff personal injury claims. David began practising as Special Counsel with Carneys Lawyers in 2008 and is responsible for a significant number of major catastrophic claims within the firm. David is experienced in dealing with the stress and trauma of these situations, isolating the facts and evaluating the potential for the timely conduct of the case.

David's also a current member of the Australian Lawyers Alliance, an organisation which represents Plaintiff Lawyers throughout Australia.
